For your consideration is a First Edition of “Kit Carson the Happy Warrior of the Old West” by Stanley Vestal, Houghton Mifflin Company Boston and New York, publishers, 1928. A classic biography of this important character in the American West. Carson was a frontiersman, fur trapper, Indian fighter, scout, and Indian agent who made an important contribution to the westward expansion of the United States. Although he was famous for much of his life, historians in later years have written that Kit Carson did not like, want, or even fully understand the fame that he experienced during his life.
