This is an excellent, handwoven, flat weave rug by master weaver, Elena Martinez. It was made using 100% soft, fine, handspun wool in an amazing Klagetoh Ganchos Viejos pattern. The rug was handwoven with a tight weave, using a 100%, locally handspun, wool blend yarn that offers natural variegation and durability with color fast aniline dyes. The tight, handwoven weave displays the bold colors in the fine Klagetoh Ganchos Viejos pattern in the time-honored, Zapotec, multi-generational craft by a master weaver, Elena Martinez. This bold and beautiful rug shows a fantastic Navajo style, Klagetoh Ganchos Viejos pattern, showing a fantastically large rug with a solid, blood red field and intricate decorations that show a symmetrical design consistent throughout this rug. The rug shows banded end borders with black and brown coloration, along with geometric patterns in the corners of the rug and a large, well-crafted, stepped medallion, showing colors of black, white, and brown. The rug has unique, four-braided tassels showing the colors of red, white, black and brown. The piece is in brand new condition with a fine, tight weave. The nice, large rug measures 5’ by 8’ (5 foot by 8 foot). This is a contemporary rug hand-woven by Elena Martinez, a Zapotec Indian from a small weaving village, in amazing natural dyes and wool.
