The lot features a set of beaded men's wool blanket leggings from the Lakota Sioux of the Northern Plains from an ex-Cowan's auction. The set shows wool trade blanket leggings lined with red trade clothe with a sinew sewn piped border showing a rich red coloring across the legging with salvage like strip framing the outer edge with colors of blue, black, orange, yellow. There are two long sections of Indian hide legging beaded strips covered in glass trade seed beads. The beadwork is in a design seen typically on beaded leggings with a triangle tipi like design with banded tabs. Beads in colors of white, red, yellow, green, blue. The leggings are on curved museum stands with metal mounting brackets for display on the wall. The set shows some slight bead loss and some wear to the leggings, but overall display very well. Bought from a Cowan's auction in early 2000's. Together the leggings measure 38-inches high by 26-inches wide.
