The lot features a fantastic authentic set of beaded moccasins from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians dating to the 1800's. This set of early moccasins show an Indian brain tanned hide which is sinew sewn to a hard Buffalo parfleche rawhide sold and adorned with period correct glass trade cen seed beads in a "Buffalo" track geometric pattern. The beadwork shows a chalk white background with symbols and patterns in red white hearts, greasy blue, medium blue, Cheyenne pink, cobalt, medium green, faceted amber, faceted iridescent and more. The tops of the moccasins show a nice original yellow ocher painted finish. Over the set is in good to fair condition with some slight beadloss and overall well preserved set. The set shows the original Indian tanned hide tongue which shows a hand cut end, which adds an artful appeal. The set has a wonderful original patina from much age and use with the soles having a rich worn foot pattern. Truly a fine set of authentic men's moccasins from the 1800's. Each measures 11"L soles by 4.5"W by 4.5" H ankle.
