This is an excellent 19th Century fully top beaded single moccasin from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians of the Dakota, Montana, Wyoming area. The single moccasin shows a Buffalo Indian tanned hide construction with sinew sewing being adorned with all period correct 1800’s glass trade seed cen beads in a geometric pattern showing chalk white, medium green, blue, and red white hearts. The moccasin shows a medium height fold over Indian tanned hide angle with trade calico clothe piping and original hide tongue. Also shown is the original Indian tanned hide tie strap. The beadwork is in very good condition with little bead loss. The base of the moccasin shows a parfleche rawhide hard sole with nice foot print from dirt and sweat from honest authentic age and use. The piece is truly a fine moccasin in preserved condition. Provenance: From a large Western Cowboy and American Indian collection in Dayton, Wyoming. This moccasin measures 9 3/4" long by 4" wide. Pre-1890's Indian wars era piece.
