For your consideration is this exceptional fully beaded and feathered Warrior Coup Staff from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians. The piece was handmade by a Lakota Sioux Native American tribe member, circa late 1900's to early 2000's. The coup stick or coup staff is a large full size with wood hook curved end and is covered completely showing banded pony and trade seed beadwork, trade clothe, and rawhide wrappings. The club shows beadwork starting at the hook curve and running down almost the entire surface of the coup stick down to the bottom. The coup curve or coup hook shows coyote fur wrapped around the curve, with leather wraps around the tip of the curve and dangling feathers held on by strands of trade beads with colors of blue, white and copper. In the middle of the curve is a strung band of colored beads with four bells and a dangling piece of black, red and tan leather strips with blue and white beads. The bead work on the staff shows colors of blue and white in a repeating pattern of white and blue. The staff shows a section of rawhide wrap, a section of coyote fur wrap and a section of blue cloth wrap with brass studs set into it. The entire coup staff features nine total feathers throughout the piece. The piece is made in traditional Indian Wars Coup Staff pattern and displays wonderfully. There is a small section of beads that are missing but overall the staff shows good condition. The coups staff measures 77" H x 12" W.
