The bust that is featured on the crown piece of this cabinet is the 1st Earl of Chatham, the honorary William Pitt. Pitt was a member of the British cabinet and its informal leader from 1756 to 1761 during the Seven Years' War (including the French and Indian War in the American colonies). Pitt was best known as the wartime political leader of Britain during the Seven Years' War and for his staunch support of the American position in the run up to the American Revolutionary War. The condition of this secretary desk is good; there is small chipping to the front corners of the top of the desk and slight wear to the top of the bottom of the desk. The measurements of this piece are 42" x 24" x 100".
