Featured in this lot we have a large Papago Native American Indian hand woven coil basket with lid. The Papago Tohono O'odham (People of the Desert), are located in Arizona and are known for their weaving skill. This storage basket displays thick bear grass and yucca construction with a tall conical lid and carry handles on each side. The piece shows a contrasting checkered pattern with the yucca and bear grass. The basket shows good condition overall with some light wear across the piece. The basket measures 17 1/4" diameter by approximately 17" tall with the lid.
