Featured in this lot we have a French made brass navigation compass and carry case originating from the late 1800's. This compass displays brass construction with a silver face marked with cardinal directions and degrees. The piece shows two folding hooks for it to be hung and a arrow lock on the side. The face is marked with "Made in France" with this model of compass finding use in the 1890's Spanish and American war. The carry case displays wood construction with treated paper exterior and maroon felt interior. The case shows a brass hinge in the back with two latches. The piece shows good condition overall with some wear and light damage due to age and use. The compass measures 3 1/2" in diameter with the case being 4" in diameter.
