Featured in this lot we have a Persian cavalry scimitar with sheath originating from the late 1800's. The sword shows a dramatically curved blade with a iron guard and wooden grip. The scimitar saw wide spread use in the Middle East and parts of Asia starting from the Ottoman period and was a favored weapon for mounted soldiers. The blade shows a curved single edged blade. The grip shows a metal cross guard with a wooden grip with a fill tan and a metal pommel. The sheath shows leather and metal construction with tooled patterns across the scabbard. The piece shows good condition overall with some wear on the sword and the sheath shows some damage and signed of repair. The sword measures 37" long overall with a 32" long blade.
