This lot features a beautiful set of Jicarilla Apache men's moccasins with Indian hide body and hard sole parfleche soles dating to the Late 19th Century from a fantastic Midwest Native American Indian collection. The set shows a classic pattern seen on other Jucarilla Apache moccasins of the era with diamond pattern with a banded diamond pattern on an open hide base with a geometric band bordering the entire foot. The late 1800s moccasins are sinew sewn with old glass trade seed beads in colors of greasy yellow, greasy blue, cobalt, semi-transparent red, chalk white, medium green and some faceted dark red. The moccasins are sinew sewn with Indian tanned hide tops and thick parfleche rawhide soles. There are a few old repairs done with thread. The original tongue, ankle fold over and old hide ties are still present. The set has a nice foot worn pattern and mostly soft hides with some stiffness. It is truly a wonderful set and similar to the set in the Bata Shoe Museum which are also Jicarilla Apache from the late 1800s. Likely from the Dulce Indian Reservation, New Mexico. Each moccasin measures 10.25"L soles by 4"W by 5.5"H ankles.*
