For your consideration is this 1857 edition of "Life and Public Services of General Andrew Jackson", by John S. Jenkins, Miller, Orton & Co. publisher. This is an influential 19th-century biography written by American author and historian John Stilwell Jenkins, originally published in 1847. The work is highly valued by historians because it features an extensive appendix containing Jackson’s most critical official state papers, providing a direct look into the political documentation of his era. The book functions as a comprehensive, historical narrative tracing Jackson's journey from a rugged frontier youth to a dominant national leader. It details his hardscrabble roots, his Scotch-Irish heritage, and his brutal treatment as a teenage prisoner of war by the British. Explores his decisive leadership as a Major General, focusing heavily on his campaigns in the Creek War and his famous victory at the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. The book covers his transition into Tennessee politics and his eventual ascent to the White House, and examines his controversial policy decisions, including his fierce resistance to the National Bank, his views on strengthening executive power, and the complex political landscape of the early American republic. The brown cloth bound gold gilt stamped illustrated hardcover is in preserved condition, fading and scuffing exhibited on covers and spine. Intact pages exhibit age tanning, foxing and staining. Measures 5"W x 7.5"L x 1.25"D, weight is 1lb
