For your consideration is this 1885 Memorial Edition of "Life and Deeds of General Grant", by Frank Burr, W. H. Boothroyd & Co. Detroit, Michigan, publishers. Embellished with nearly 200 Fine Illustrations of Scenes in the Life of the Great Soldier. "A New, Original and Authentic Record of the Life and Deeds of General Grant." This book contains a full history of his early life; his record as a student at the West Point Military academy; His gallantry in the Mexican war; His honorable career as a business man in St. Louis and Galena; His eminent services to his country in our great Civil War; His election to the presidency; among many more inclusions. The leather binding is worn, gold gilt title on spine missing. Marbled front and rear covers. Scuffing and wear noted on covers and spine. Intact gold gilt top, bottom and fore edge pages exhibit age tanning and slight foxing throughout, gold gilt edges are bright. Measures 6"W x 8.5"L x 2.25"D, weight 3lb, 2oz.
