"Daniel Boone and the Hunters of Kentucky” is a fascinating account of wilderness life in the American west (i.e. Kentucky). And while the biographical information on the life of Boone is important, this book is most desirable for the accounts of Native American Indian tribes, their treaties with America, and of course, notes on battles and wars between Indians and the United States. This work also covers Boone's role in the Revolutionary War and his interactions Generals Lafayette and George Washington. Daniel Boone was an American pioneer and frontiersman whose exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United States. He became famous for his exploration and settlement of Kentucky, which was then beyond the western borders of the Thirteen Colonies. William Henry Bogart (1810-1888) was a lawyer, legislator, journalist, historian and author, writing this book in an attempt to rescue Daniel Boone from becoming entirely myth and legend. The brown cloth bound gold gilt stamped illustrated hardcover is in fair to good condition, scuffing noted, front board loose. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and slight foxing.
