Presented is a rare vintage LINDGREN-TURNER, "The Elk Hunt", poster 1955. Similar to the cartoon Hysterical Maps of the 40s and 50s, shows all kinds of hunting hijinks including a helicopter, crazed hunters, a Knight on horseback, and a pulled rickshaw among many hysterical images. Founded in 1928 by brother Jolly Elmer and Oscar Simms Lindgren, the Lindgren Brothers produced a series of whimsical pictorial maps, mostly focused on national parks, but also paid attention to other areas of great natural beauty and wonder. Their style and color scheme is easily recognizable once one becomes familiar with just a handful of their works. Their maps were wildly popular from the mid-1930s to the 1950s as was tourism in the form of the America road trip to many of the places celebrated in their maps.
The poster is in good condition, the corners have some tearing and nailholes from it being mounted onto another surface. 21.5"L x 17.5"W
