For your consideration is beautiful, Lladro porcelain sculpture titled, "Fishing With Gramps" done in 1984. Lladró is a well-known Spanish firm that creates beautiful porcelain sculptures with delicate features, soft pastel tones, and romantic or melancholy themes. Juan, José, and Vicente Lladró, three brothers from the little town of Almàssera near Valencia, formed the company in 1953. The brothers began by manufacturing useful ceramics such as vases and plates, but quickly turned their focus to ornamental art pieces, drawing inspiration from classical forms and traditional European porcelain. By the 1960s, Lladró had created a unique sculptural style and a global reputation for craftsmanship and elegance. In 1969, the company developed its own porcelain plant in Tavernes Blanques, complete with a training school and design center. Over the decades, Lladró expanded its collections to include religious figures, romantic couples, children, animals, and fantasy-themed sculptures. Each piece is handmade and hand-painted, reflecting a strong commitment to high detail. This sculpture shows an old man and his grandson fishing in a boat with their dog. The old man is holding a fishing pole and both him and the child lean forward hoping to see a big catch. The dog is hanging off the front of the boat waiting for the fish to be reeled in. At the back of the boat is a bottle and a fishing creel to store the caught fish in. The side of the boat is marked reading, "Paloma" in light blue lettering. The bottom of the sculpture is marked reading, "Lladro / Hand Made In Spain / © Daisa 1983 / 5215 / H-15 E". The piece shows good condition overall with no wear or damage present. It measures 15 3/8" L x 6 3/8" W x 7 1/2" H and weighs 6 pounds and 6 ounces.
