This is an original Montana Territory Knives of Bozeman, Montana camp bowie knife with an excellent scrimshaw Frederic Remington signature in a clip point chopper blade. The blade has been forged from 1095HC (High Carbon) steel and 15N20 Nickel Carbon which is then heated and folded into 396 layers creating the astounding “Damascus” steel. The knife shows a wonderful rain drop Damascus pattern. The hollow grind full tang blade has been paired with a set of nice white wild Buffalo bone grip scales which are secured to the piece using a mosaic pin of brass and copper with three brass pins and a brass lanyard hole. The knife also features a set of polished stainless-steel bolsters. The tang and knife spine have been artfully hand vine filled. The grips have also artfully been scrimshaw etched with the signature of Frederic Remington. Frederic Sackrider Remington (American 1861-1909) is considered one of the most renowned painter, illustrator and sculptor of the American Old West who spent his life retelling the scenes of the American west with images of cowboys, American Indians, and the U.S. Cavalry, amongst other Western culture. The knife is in brand new condition and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity along with a Lifetime warranty. The blade is marked with the “MONTANA TERRITORY KNIVES BOZEMAN MONTANA” stamping which shows the outline of Montana. The knife measures overall 9 1/2" in length with the blade being 4 3/4" long. The sheath and knife together measure10" long.
