This is an original Montana Territory Knives of Bozeman, Montana clip point with an excellent scrimshaw, Frederic Remington signature. The blade has been forged from 1095HC (High Carbon) steel and 15N20 Nickel Carbon which is then heated and folded into 396 layers, creating the astounding “Damascus” steel. The knife shows a wonderful ladder Damascus pattern. The hollow grind full tang blade has been paired with a set of white wild Buffalo bone grip scales which are secured to the piece using two mosaic pins and a lanyard loop. The tang and knife spine have been artfully hand-vine filled. The grips have also artfully been scrimshaw etched with the signature of Frederic Remington. Frederic Sackrider Remington (American 1861-1909) is considered to be one of the most renowned painters, illustrators, and sculptors of the American Old West; He spent his life retelling the scenes of the American West with images of cowboys, American Indians, and the U.S. Cavalry, amongst other aspects of Western culture. The blade is marked with the “MONTANA TERRITORY KNIVES BOZEMAN MONTANA” stamping, which shows the outline of Montana. The knife measures 9 3/4"L from end to end with the blade being 5 1/2"L.*
