Featured in this lot is a Vintage Métis Elk Dew Claw Berry Bag, circa 1950s. The Métis are an Indigenous people whose historical homelands include Canada's three Prairie Provinces, who trace their descent to First Nations and European settlers, primarily the French, in the early decades of the colonization of Canada. The berry bag features an elk hide and sinew construction with colours of light and dark brown fur, the mouth is trimmed in scalloped cloth tied with leather thong strips and accessorized with jingle cones and red cloth. Eight dew claws provide the bag stand. This piece is in good vintage condition there is minor surface wear or spotting from age which is to be expected. It measures 6.75"W x 13"L x 5.75"H, mouth is 4"W x 9"L, weight is 14oz.
