For your consideration is an Vintage Maddox Cherry American Colonial Revival Slant Drop Front Secretary Desk, circa 1950s to 1960s. Maddox Tables, Jamestown, NY label affixed to drawer. The desk features a hinged, locking (key is missing) slant-front lid that drops down to serve as a writing surface, with the lid supported by concealed sliding arms that extend when the writing surface is lowered providing stability for the lid. Behind the drop-down front is an organized interior with two small drawers and cubby holes for storage. Below the writing surface are three large, graduated drawers for additional storage. Maddox Table Company, based in Jamestown, NY, operated from 1898 to approximately 1985. Renowned for high-quality, colonial revival, and mahogany furniture, the company is best known for its secretary desks, which often feature hidden compartments. This cherry slant top desk is in nice condition, finish is good, exhibits wear consistent with normal use and age. Scratches on writing surface noted.
