The desk features a hinged, locking (key is missing) slant-front lid that drops down to serve as a writing surface, with the lid supported by concealed sliding arms that extend when the writing surface is lowered providing stability for the lid. Behind the drop-down front is an organized interior with two small drawers and cubby holes for storage. Below the writing surface are three large, graduated drawers for additional storage. Maddox Table Company, based in Jamestown, NY, operated from 1898 to approximately 1985.
