For bidding in this lot is a Rare example of the Marlin Model 1887, Top-Break, double action revolver, chambered for Smith & Wesson .38 caliber. The Model 1887 was manufactured between 1887 through 1899, with around 15,000 examples in .32 and .38 S&W. This variant is rare due to its fully blue'd finish, while most were manufactured in nickel, with a blue'd trigger guard. The revolver follows the design of the Smith & Wesson Top-Break double action, with a 3 1/4" round barrel, 5-shot cylinder, and even showing a crescent style trigger. The revolver is marked in numerous spots, reading; "MARLIN FIRE ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN.U.S.A. - PATENTED AUGUST 2. 1887. AUGUST. 9. 1887." on the top of the barrel rib, "M.F.A.C" on both hard rubber grip panels, and serial number "4466" on the butt of the grips. Overall, the revolver shows very good condition. Aesthetically, the revolver has good finish retention, and excellent grips, with only a slight nick out of the bottom - The barrel, and hard edges do display some holster wear however. Mechanically, the revolver has a tight double action, which is in good time. Additionally, the revolver has good cylinder lock-up on single action, and displays a good bore overall. The revolver manufactured between 1887-99 qualifies as an Antique Hand Gun, and does NOT require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 4466.
