For your consideration is a Marples & Sons Sheffield Bow Saw 1900s. A small bow saw made from beech, mahogany with boxwood handles. Here we have a beautiful example of a traditional pattern English Turning Saw, as manufactured some 50-100 years ago by William Marples & Sons in Sheffield, England. This saw is in very nice condition and fine working order. The beech wood frame is stamped with MARPLES & SONS / SHEFFIELD". The mark is small and light but readable with a glass. The frame is in superb condition with no chips, cracks or any other damage and retains the original varnish finish. The twine bow is also in good condition and tension. A former owner, "L. Shackel", stamped his mark on the frame. The blade measures approximately 8" overall. It may be the original and the teeth are still sharp.
