Featured in this lot is this marquise tanzanite, diamond, and 14k white gold necklace. The necklace shows a 14k white gold pendant and necklace chain with a ribbon setting and a gold weight of 0.57GM. The center stone shows a marquise cut tanzanite stone with an overall weight of 1.77 carats. The ribbon decoration is lavishly decorated with 11 round brilliant cut diamonds with a weight of 0.04 carats. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The necklace pendant shows the Color Jewels Inc. hallmark on the back of the pendant with a 14k gold stamp next to it. The measurements of this necklace chain are 18 1/4" and the pendant measurements are 3/4" x 1/4" x 1/4".
