Featured in this lot is this Masai People Kenya, East Africa lion hunting spear. The spear features an impressive length with a short haft. The Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting northern, central, and southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. The Maasai people have traditionally viewed the killing of lions as a rite of passage. Historically, lion hunts were done by individuals, however, due to reduced lion populations, lion hunts done solo are discouraged by elders. The condition of this spear is fair, with the blade showing good overall condition and tape residue on the haft of the spear. The measurements of this spear are 46" x 1 3/4", with an overall blade length of 27".
