Featured in this lot is this "Black on Black," olla pot from Mata Ortiz Pottery artist Tomasa Mora circa 1950's. This pottery vessel features wonderfully and professionally crafted ceramic construction that features black on black decoration with waves of geometric patterns with a textured walling to the pottery vessel from iconic artisan Tomasa Mora. The olla pot is marked on the bottom of the vessel 'Tomasa Mora'. Mata Ortiz pottery is a recreation of the Mogollon pottery found in and around the archeological site of Casas Grandes (Paquimé) in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The condition of this pottery vessel is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this pottery vessel is 6" x 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".
