This is a rare circa 500 A.D. Mayan pottery pipe collected from Belize. The piece measures 5.5”L by 2.75”H and is made of baked terracotta clay. The figural smoking pipe features a shaman sitting with a long lizard protruding as the smoking tip, and underneath him is a South American venomous Fere-de-lance snake. The piece shows some repairs, but overall is truly fine example. There are still remnants of old red pigment paint on the pipe.
