Featured in this lot is this Mesquaki Indian beaver effigy studded ladle circa 3rd quarter 19th century. The ladle shows a maple wood construction with beautiful contrast in coloration from the handle to the spoon bowl and features etched geometric patterns and shapes and shows a hand carved beaver on a clipped tip handle and shows six total brass studs on either side of the handle. The condition of this ladle is good with a small chip to the right hand side of the spoon bowl but otherwise is in good overall condition. The measurements of this ladle are 4 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 5 3/4". Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. Identification#: E1029.
