Included in this lot is a collection of Vintage Mexican Sterling Silver earrings, five (5), circa 1940s-1970s. Mexico is the world's largest producer of silver, with historic mines in Zacatecas, Guanajuato, and Durango that have been operating for centuries and continue to yield large quantities of silver. The unassuming city in the Mexican mountains is famous for producing some of the finest handmade silver jewellery in the world and is often referred to as ‘the silver capital of the world’. All the earrings are screw backs. The first pair are all sterling construction, stamped "Sterling Sterling" and have a floral design. The second pair are also all sterling construction and feature a silver beads and twisted rope design, stamped "Sterling" on the reverse. The third pair features Larimar petit point cabochons mounted in a repoussé silver bead design, stamped "Sterling" on the reverse. The fourth features a silver construction with silver beads surrounding a beautiful polished jade green Aztec carved face. Stamped "Sterling Mexico" on the reverse. The fifth features Royston turquoise cabochons set into a repoussé "bead" design. Each set is in good condition, rich patina noted throughout. Collective weight is 24 grams.
