In this lot is a hand colored Miguel Martinez piece of artwork. Between 1929 and 1952, C. Szwedzicki, a publisher in Nice, France, produced six portfolios of North American Indian art. These works represent original works by North American Cultures. One of the portfolios was “Pueblo Indian Painting: 50 Reproductions of Watercolor Paintings by Indian Artists of the New Mexican Pueblos of San Ildefonso and Sia.” It was published in 1932. The number in the upper right hand corner represents plate number 45. Only 76 original prints were produced and each was hand colored. This piece shows an eagle and snake in battle with an arrow piercing the eagle. The colors are bright and the paper is in good condition. The piece measures 15 1/2" x 19 1/2".
