For sale in this lot is a pair of floral tooled spur straps from the Miles City Saddlery, out of Miles City, Montana. The Miles City Saddelry was created in 1909, when C. E. Coggshall sold his business to Frank Jelinek, Bert Coleman, and Clem Kathman for approximately $9,500. Kathman, the only leather worker of the trio, had been Coggshalls shop foreman. The zenith of their manufacturing era spanned the years 1910-1919, similar to Al. Furstnow Saddlery, its major competitor in Miles City. The spur straps are believed to originate from the late first quarter of the 20th century. Each strap measures 11 3/8" long, and 4 3/4" wide.
