This collection of historical items includes a Spanish military leather belt with metal buckle, a horn powder horn and a white buffalo statue. The belt has a buckle depicting eagle, crown, and cross. This design was used by the Spanish military for approximately fifty years from the late 19th century, Spanish American War through WW II. Leather belt and buckle show age with scuffs, scratches, patina, spots, and marks. The buckle has tarnish on it, but it is still in overall good vintage condition. It measures 38" L x 2" W approximately. Also included is a powder horn. Historically, soldiers made Powder Horns from cows, oxen, or buffalo horns. Natural horn has the advantage of being waterproof and already hollow inside. Stoppers of wood or bone or horn were placed at each end of the horn. A soldier filled the horn with gunpowder at the large end and dispensed powder from the smaller end. Soldiers sometimes decorated their Powder Horns with carvings or inlays. They usually carried them with a long strap over their shoulder. Because it is vintage, its age shows; the wide end has been tacked shut, a fitted wooden closure seals the larger end closed, the narrow end has been plugged with an eyelet screw, there is a small crack on the horn exterior upper half, and there are splits around the narrow end. It measures 8" L x 2.75" W. Lastly is a Stone Critters "White Buffalo" figurine. A white buffalo, or white bison, is an American bison possessing white fur; it is considered sacred or spiritually significant in several Native American religions. Therefore, such buffaloes are often visited for prayer and other religious rituals. White buffaloes are extremely rare; the National Bison Association has estimated that they only occur in approximately one out of every 10 million births. The figurine is in good condition, showing no defects/damage. It measures 4" H x 4.5" L x 3.5" W.
