Offered in this lot is a collection of Millefiori beads from West African trade. These types of beads were made in Venice predominantly for trade with West Africa. The first three beads in this set are "Elbow Shaped Cane Bead" pieces. The largest bead is dark green centered with bright green, blue, white, orange, and red flowers. The next two beads are black cored. One has white, yellow, red, and black flowers; the other has blue, white, red, and yellow flowers. These three canes are from 1 3/4" to 2" long and are 1/2" wide. The next two beads are round ball beads and measure 1/2". One ball bead is black, yellow, white, and red; the other is red, green, yellow, and white. Next is a Hand Paddled oval/flat high shine bead. The core of this bead is black with green, yellow, white, blue, and red flowers. This bead is 1/34" long, 3/4" at its wide point, and 1/4" thick. The next 21 beads range in size from 1/4" to 1 1/4" long and most are 1/2" wide, with one being as small as ¼” wide. The last two beads in this lot are from square canes. These beads have a black center with yellow, white, blue, and red colors. The beads are 3/8" X 3/8" X 1". All of these beads are in good condition, with minor wear and damage to be expected due to age.
