This is a Mississippian Culture clay effigy pottery vessel. The piece is all handmade showing the animal figure in wonderful detail. A large handle spout extends from the back of the figure upward with a pour spout from the tail. The piece exhibits a unique hand painted design using mineral pigmented dyes. The Mississippian pottery figure is in good condition. It measures 7.75" x 11.75" and is 12.5" tall. From a private collection acquired near the Rose Mound area of Cross County, Arkansas over 60 years ago.
