The lot features a large head Missouri War Axe tomahawk with punch dot design and carved wood haft, attributed to the upper Missouri River basin. The head is forged iron metal with a large triangle typical Missouri War Axe pattern having a round eye with four ridges. There is a punch dot engraving along the outer edge and at the top in a triangle on both sides. The wood handle shows later added metal brass covered tacks with a carved large “bubble” ball pommel end and pierced hole which was made to hold a drop or wrist throng. The bottom of the tomahawk is not sharpened and is considered “blunt-cut”. From a private California collection. Measures overall 22-inches long with the head being 8.5-inches long and 5-inches long across the bottom of the blade.
