Featured in this lot is this Montana Lee Kern burl slab and juniper rocking chair circa 2012. The rocking chair features a wonderfully and professionally crafted burl slab and juniper construction that shows a strong firm frame of juniper that is sanded, polished, and treated to perfection with armrests and legs that connect to the rocking portion of the chair and shows two large slabs of burl with light brown coloration with misty segments of black, most likely due to fungal formations to the original specimen that shows intricate formations of spikes along the top edge of the seat back. Lee Kern is a lifelong artist, outdoorsman, and well-known personality, residing in Red Lodge, Montana, near the source of his primary medium, fallen Rocky Mountain juniper. Lee began crafting beautiful juniper lamps and tables in the 1980s. Over the decades, he applied his methods to increasingly complex pieces, such as desks, beds, lamp tables, and signature rockers, while preserving the natural context and expressing the natural beauty of Montana’s juniper. In addition to his wide array of natural wood furniture product, he has also evolved a style of wood-carving, painting, and sculpting that has further established the uniqueness of his work. The condition this Lee Kern rocking chair is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this rocking chair is 45 3/4 x 40" x 28 1/2". The back of the rocking chair is signed by Lee Kern and dated 9/3/12.
