Featured in this lot is this Montana mercantile grocer’s scale, circa early 1900's. The scale shows a steel balance scale frame with a grocer’s bowl and a flat plate. Mercantile scales made transactions easier; this scale would have sat close to the cash register, so the grocer knew the price and how much to charge for produce and other items. The condition of the mercantile scale is fair, with oxidation and wear consistent with the age. The overall measurements of this scale are 12 3/4" x 18" x 14 3/4".
