Offered in this lot is a collection Montana railroad ephemera including billheads, freight receipts, personal correspondence and more, including correspondence to the B, A,& P Railroad Company signed by the first Governor of Montana, Joseph Toole. These pieces are from the late 19th and mid 20th centuries. Some of these pieces are from rare railroads and include Butte, Anaconda, and Pacific RR; Northern Pacific; Southern Pacific; Oregon Short Line Railroad; Union Pacific; Chicago, Milwaukie, St. Paul & Pacific; Alabama & Vicksburg Railroad; and the Yellowstone Park Railroad. The railroads fueled the expansion of the American West and were critical in the creation and survival of the small towns and cities that sprang up throughout Montana's early history.
The collection consists of forty (40) individual pieces and are in good overall condition, largest pieces measure 8.5"W x 11."L
