This is an original life size Montana State Bobcats Champ bronze sculpture by Roger D. Kruckenberg of Bozeman, Montana; only three examples of this bronze were made including one at the MSU Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, one at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and this example from the artists personal collection. Celebrate the Montana State Football being the 2026 NCAA FCS Football Champions and own a piece of MSU and Bozeman history in this Champ Bobcat Bronze. The bronze was originally commissioned by the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in 2000-2001, installed at the stairs going to the second level for boarding (photo for reference). Three castings were made in total and then the mold was destroyed. Montana State University President Geoffrey Gamble also commissioned for one of the three bronze bobcats to be on display at the college. President Gamble had the bronze installed at the Montana State University Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, being the first examples of the MSU Bobcat mascot on display on campus (at the time nothing on campus depicting the mascot was shown). The last remaining casting of the three was retained by Roger D. Kruckenberg. Roger Dean Kruckenberg (1946-2018) was a Bozeman, Montana artist who was known for his bronze sculpture depictions of Montana Wildlife and Cowboy lifestyle of Montana. He was most active in 1990-2000 with his work on display in galleries across Montana including Big Sky and Bozeman. His work was commissioned by the BZN Airport, MSU, Great Falls Museum, and his work “Prairie Thunder” being eligible for the Smithsonian Museum. The bronze is signed in the work, “ROGER D KRUCKENBERG (tipi / copyright) CREATED THRU THE HAND’S OF GOD 3/22/01”. The history of the bronze was taken directly from Roger.
