This is an original Montana Territory Knives of Bozeman, Montana knife with an excellent George Custer portrait scrimshaw artwork. This knife is truly a work of “Montana” art as it shows the portrait with a forged “rustic” Damascus—a tribute to the wilderness of our state and scrimshaw artwork of Native American Indian heritage. The blade has been forged from 1095HC (High Carbon) steel and 15N20 Nickel Carbon, which is then heated and folded into 396 layers, creating the astounding “Damascus” steel. The knife shows an excellent rain drop Damascus pattern. The hollow grind full tang blade has been paired with a set of nice white wild animal (possibly Buffalo) bone grip scales, which are secured to the piece using two mosaic pins and lanyard loop. The tang has been artfully hand vine filled. The grips have also artfully been scrimshaw etched with the portrait of George Custer. The knife is in brand new condition. The blade is stamped with the outline of the state of Montana "MT" in the outline with "Bozeman MT" underneath. The knife has been paired with a Great American Bison Buffalo leather, hand crafted tooled sheath and stamped "MT Bozeman MT" with the outline of Montana. The knife measures 7" long with the blade being 3 1/" long.
