This is an original handmade hunting knife from the Montana Territory Knives of Bozeman, Montana. The knife is made to commemorate the Yellowstone Fire of 1988. The piece features a D2 high-carbon, high-chromium, air hardening tool steel that makes for an effective combination of wear resistance and toughness. The knife has been forged from D2 Tool Steel and then blacksmith hammered along the blade for a rustic Yellowstone Forest natural iron appeal. The blade grip scales are made of a wild animal bone that has been polished and dyed a rich red color to emulate the burning skies seen during the Yellowstone Fire. The grip has also been scrimshaw carved with a forest scene giving the appearance of a burning forest fire. The Yellowstone fires of 1988 collectively are the largest wildfire in the recorded history of Yellowstone National Park. A total of 793,880 acres or 36 percent of the park was affected by the wildfires. The Yellowstone Wildfire Knife will be a very limited edition. The knife has been paired with a Great American Bison Buffalo leather hand crafted sheath which has been partially hand tooled. The knife is in brand new condition and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity along with a Lifetime warranty. The blade is marked with the “MONTANA TERRITORY KNIVES BOZEMAN MONTANA” stamping which shows the outline of Montana. The knife measures overall __” in length with the blade being __” long by _” at its widest point. The sheath measures _” by _”.
