A Moroccan leather & coin water carrier bag (known as a qirba or mashak) is a traditional Berber accessory used by water sellers (guerrab) in Moroccan markets to carry water and collect payments, decorated with hammered, antique foreign and local coins (like French Francs, Dirhams) riveted onto the leather for added value and decoration, making them unique, historically significant pieces often used today as cultural decor or boho fashion items. Features a strap and a central decorated brass ornament resembling an Islamic mirhab. Coins included are Moroccan Dirham, French Francs, Spanish Pesetas and British Pence. This rich Moroccan leather and coin water carrier bag is in good preserved condition, rich patina of scars and stretch marks, rich patina observed on the coins and studs. One coin missing from the front, one coin missing from the strap. Measures 18"W x 19"L, weight is 6lb, 12oz.
