Offered in this lot is a large, handmade, Mountain Man Indian Style Beaded Buckskin Coat. The coat is made of a tan ruff side out buckskin. The coat is fringed along the front and back yoke and across the top of the shoulders. The coat has five buffalo nickel buttons down the front and brass and silver star concho buttons on the four pockets. Across the top of each shoulder is a band of beading in yellow, white, red, and black beads in a Native American pattern. In the center of the back yolk is a beaded medallion of the sun in yellow, red, and black. On the front, above each pocket, is a medallion of the sun beaded in red, yellow, orange, and black. On each of the lower pockets is an embroidered patch of a star in black, red, and yellow thread. The construction of the coat is in very good shape; there is some slight discoloration of the suede in some areas. The coat measures 24" across the back of the shoulders, 27 1/2" from the bottom of the color to the bottom of the coat, and 26" sleeves. The coat appears to be sized for a large person.
