Featured in this lot are two maps of towns in Montana, originally done by Henry Gannett, A.H. Thompson, E.M. Douglas and Frank Tweedy in 1893 and 1895, reprinted in 1917 and 1932. The first map shows a topographical view of Three Forks, Montana. Counties are outlined and named, rivers are colored blue, mountain peaks are named and show elevations and various towns in the surrounding area are listed. The top of the map reads, "Department of the Interior U.S. Geological Survey / Reconnaissance Map / Montana Three Forks Sheet". The second map shows the town of Dillon and the surrounding area. The shows a topographical view and features outlined and named counties, blue colored rivers, named mountain peaks and various towns. The top of the map reads, "Department of the Interior Franklin K. Lane, Secretary, U.S. Geological Survey, George Otis Smith, Director / Reconnaissance Map / Montana Dillon Sheet". Both maps show good condition overall with some slight wear present from their age and use over the years. Slight tears and creases present. They are set on poster board and plastic wrapped to preserve their condition. They measure 20" L x 16 3/8" W and have a collective weight of 10 ounces.
