For your consideration is this etching by Nancy McLaughlin Powell (1932-1985). The etching shows a horse saddled with a Native American saddle outside of a teepee, with a spear and shield stack in the background. Born and raised in western Montana, Nancy McLaughlin had extensive contacts with the Indians of Montana. She spent her childhood on the reservation, where she was friends with the Blackfeet. While learning of their customs and legends, she also developed an in-depth understanding of the people. The etching is marked with the artist’s signature in the right-hand corner. The proof numbers are 28/50. The condition of this etching is good, with no obvious signs of damage.
