Included in this lot is "Natural History, General and Particular", Volumes IV & V. by Count de Buffon. These volumes were both published in 1912 by C. Wood in London. Count de Buffon was a French author and his natural history was originally published from 1749-1804. It spanned to an encyclopedic collection of 36 quartos. This English translation was published prior to the completion of this work. The work ended up being limited to the animal and mineral kingdoms. This translation has numerous notes and observations by William Smellie, a Scottish encyclopedist and naturalist. These books are in good condition, as they have been rebound. They both have a stamp of "Sacramento State College" on the contents page. The books measure 5 1/2" by 8 1/2".
