Featured in this lot is this Navajo, third phase style blue gem turquoise concho belt. In the early 1900s, the third phase of the concho belt began when artists learned how to set turquoise into their pieces. The piece shows a large oval buckle that is set with two polished, gem quality turquoise stones from the blue gem turquoise mine. The belt also shows five butterfly conchos and four oval conchos set with a single polished Blue Gem turquoise stone. The belt is strung on black tan leather. Each concho shows a period correct, soldered copper loop on the back. Each concho has an outstanding hand tooled and etched intricate design with a fine scalloped edge. The condition of this concho belt is good, showing no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this concho belt are 46 1/8" x 2 3/4".
