Presented in this lot are Original Navajo Diné Adrienne Gordon Sterling Silver Turquoise Naja Stud Dangle Earrings. These impressive earrings feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted sterling silver construction displaying a stamped naja below bezel mounted teardrop Sleeping Beauty turquoise cabochons with braided sterling silver accent around the bezels. The Naja is a crescent-shaped symbol originating from the Middle East, which was adopted by the Spanish and subsequently by Native American tribes like the Navajo. Originally a horse bridle ornament, it was believed to protect against the "evil eye" and is now a central motif in Navajo squash blossom necklaces. For Navajo people, it also holds symbolic meaning related to protection, fertility, and resilience. The earrings are in very nice condition with no marring noted and rich patina observed throughout. Each measures 1.75"L x .875"W, combined weight is 14 grams.
