Featured in this lot is a Vintage Navajo Diné Bear Paw Shadowbox Turquoise Necklace, circa 1970s to 1980s. Within Native American culture, the bear holds a special place as a symbol of immense power and unwavering strength. It is often associated with qualities that are highly regarded within these communities, including courage and resilience. The bear’s majestic presence in the natural world mirrors its symbolic importance in Native American traditions. The Bear Paw stands out as an emblem of great importance, representing a connection to the natural world and a deeper spiritual understanding. It represents a figure of power and courage, signifying the ability to lead, make tough decisions, and govern with wisdom and strength. The bear paw also grounds and stabilizes us, reminding us to remain connected to our roots and the physical world. The piece is professionally and artistically crafted of silver, and shows six oval conchos, each in the form of a bear paw shadowbox, with a cabochon of turquoise set into the inside. The shadowbox pendants are strung onto a silver beaded necklace. The necklace shows good condition overall, the silver remains un-marked, and untested. Measures 12.5"L.
