Featured in this lot is this Navajo Crystal Eye Dazzler Trading Post rug circa 1980. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted natural wool construction that is very finely woven and showing exceptional quality. This is one of the larger and nicer rugs available on the open market. The rug features natural dyes of red, black, and dark grey set to a lighter grey field with stunning geometric patters consistent with similar eye dazzler rugs showing motifs towards the center of the rug and showing a very rare large size to the rug. The regional pattern Crystal starts in the mid 1930’s. The pattern is borderless with horizontal bands of geometric designs. The bands are separated by “wavy lines”. This is created by alternating and crossing the color of each weft. The colors are of natural wool with vegetal dyed colors. The contemporary Crystals are drastically different from the old J.B. MOORE crystals, which made the area famous in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The condition of this rug is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall well preserved condition. The measurements of this Navajo rug is 70" x 106". The thread count of this rug is 176 threads per square inch.
